Hi, I have a big problem that started today, since the beginning of the App Store i've had an iTunes Store account without any credit card or billing information.
I've always been able to download free apps without any payment information and since I don't live in the US I don't have a credit card to put into my account, the only solution I seem to have is to buy an iTunes gift card in the US and then i'll be able to download apps, but it's not that easy for me to but gift cards from the US since I currently don't live there.
Does somebody have the same problem or know what should I do?
Thanks in advanced.

Ouch. They might want to start investing in better security.

It has to be able to hold 728x90 pixel sized banners. The space below the first story will not do this.

They sounded pretty crappy. I might just have good ears--I can tell the difference between CD and vinyl--but that was an unacceptable loss of quality. I ended up re-ripping everything.
Some people notice these sorts of things. I used to download MP3s from Napster (remember Napster? :p) and make standard audio CDs from them. I could then rip the CD into MP3, and I couldn't tell the difference.
The other day I was listening to some 192k MP3s and they sounded fine. Then I listened to a proper CD, then back to the MP3s and they suddenly sounded terrible! I guess the "purer" sound of the CD made the MP3s sound worse or something.

so i know everyone always says that apple cant actually tell that you jailbreak you phone if you just restore it, but is this actually true?
i want to know because my home button has been finicky (it sometimes doesnt work), and since I have a warranty i want to make sure that apple will still service the phone if it dies completely.
now i know all of the crazy super pro-jailbreak people will come and be like "no there is absolutely no way that they will be able to tell of course blah blah blah" but does anyone actually know this for certain (proof?)
it seems like they would be able to check some log or something and it will look like you have not used your phone for like a month or however long you had it jailbroken and they will figure it out. or it seems like they would have some other way to detect this. they are apple and they are crazy opposed to jailbreaking so are you completly sure that there is no way they can tell? i really want to jailbreak because it is awesome but i bought the warranty and since my home button might break i want to make sure it will still be covered.

I might line up at Laval.
Anyone have info on if we can buy just the phone, without a plan, and then jailbreak it so it can use my current rogers plan?
This launch is going to be so lame, I doubt you'll need to line up anywhere.
You can use your existing Rogers plan and carry it through. Data will be 5 KB ($5/MB, or approximately $7 to view www.macrumors.com. ~$12 to view a Facebook page with a lot of apps on it.)
I recommend not buying it. Go with the Samsung Instinct. $10 unlimited data.

Just a few minutes ago on BreakfastTV - Toronto, they said there were rumours going around that iPhone Canada will be announced today in SJ's keynote.
Not heard of this rumour before but this morning.
Thoughts?

The Optimum app was working fine for a few days when I was at home on my wireless network. As of last night I started getting an error which reads "you must be connected to your home network and signed in to watch Live TV".
Also yesterday I was finally able to connect via VPN from a wifi hot spot but got the same error message. So now I have 2 issues.
I can't connect from every wifi hotspot I try, only certain ones
I now can't connect to LIVE TV either at home or over vpn when away from home.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Mine is working fine at home and outside through VPN. Call cablevision customer support and let them know. Maybe something change on the backend.

I've always heard that the Zune was a good device, but Microsoft just did an abysmal job at marketing.
This is true. A lot of people are talking trash about the devices but I doubt anyone as ever used one. To me the UI was much more concise than the iPod, the hardware was very high quality (sound from the headphone port was far superior to what the iPod outputs) and the Zune Marketplace has a nice "recommended" music software. In the end, it was poor implementation and the Apple freight train that made the Zune fail.
I don't know why people are happy about this though. Do you really only want one music player in the market? No one wants a choice? How about competition? Competition is what drives companies to innovate. I really want some company to come out with a product that pushes Apple to an even higher level of innovation. So far no one has done it.

Well, I don't have a removal story to relate, but I do have a large (probably about 4 inches long by 1 inch wide) black tattoo on my ankle that I desperately want to rid myself of. I definitely plan to have it removed at some point in my life, but I simply can't afford it right now. I'm hoping the treatments will become less expensive and more effective in the future.
So, jywv8, your story leads me to believe that my worst fears are true.... that tattoo removal is ultra-expensive and takes a long time. Is it painful too?
Anyway, good luck with the whole thing. I checked out a couple of sites on laser removal, and it honestly made me jealous to see those tattoos disappear like that! I'd give anything to just make mine go away!! Isn't it funny how stupid decisions you make when you're 17 can affect you the rest of your life?? :)

Ridiculously cool. A lot of the design elements seems very Apple-like - I hope I will be able to use these products in my lifetime.

Over the course of time, mobiles will displace consoles.
We can already mirror the iPad 2 onto HDTVs. Not the best news for dedicated consoles. It's not perfect, but it's a powerful portent. Dedicated devices (as opposed to convergence) are destined to DIE.
iCal this. Then in 2-3 years revisit this comment and be astounded.
Consoles are not going to die. They're now the driving force behind gaming. They're even holding back PC games now, because Game developers want to maximise profit, by making sure their games can run on consoles. This prevents them from pushing the game to it's limits. Because they'd spend loads of money and only be able to run it on high-end PC's. PC Gaming is the one that's getting smaller.
Gaming is now worth more than movies and music, plus consoles don't just do gaming. My Xbox plays my games, connects me with my friends, we're usually in an 8 player voice chat party together so we can chat, and play separate games if we want. I video chat on MSN on my xbox, I rent 1080p movies on it from Zune sometimes, or just sometimes play a DVD on it. Usually it'll be running Media Center, streaming all my music, movies and photographs from my Laptop.
Physical controllers will always make better controllers for most games, minus a few exceptions like Monkey Ball and perhaps racing games, but then the more realistic gaming like Forza or Gran Turismo will require physical controllers, imagine having to look away from the screen to check where handbrake, or the gearstick was on the screen, and when you look back up, you've collided into a wall.
Touchscreen controls on a FPS are just plain horrible. And in terms of performance, portables will always remain behind dedicated consoles because they need to stay light, and obviously portable. Plus battery life would be dire if they crammed it with cutting edge video cards and processors.
And local multiplayer just would not work, sometimes when I don't want to play online, my friends might come over, and we'll play a 4 player race on Forza, or maybe Call of Duty/Halo.
Plus consoles are cheaper than the iPhone and iPad. (carrier subsidised cost plans don't count in this)
I'm not saying portables with a touchscreen are terrible devices, just that consoles are not going to die. And be replaced by portables. All I see is iOS grabbing a bigger share of the portable Market.

"CHEAP GAS!" is fast becoming a firm favorite.
You can filter by cheapest gas price within your zip code or allow IPhone to detect your current location. Also filter by closest gas station.
Recently I had virtually run out of gas with just under 1 km worth of fuel showing. The app enabled me to determine where the closest gas station was and the price they were charging. Maps and directions to the nearest, or any gas station are given.
People who have downloaded this app maintain it and keep prices current by uploading whenever possible.

5-0 Radio is another app that allows you to listen in to Police/Fire/ Emergency channels as well as Ham Radio stations around the world.
Just downloaded "HBO GO".You have to be a cable subscriber to HBO though.
Looking forward to watching The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm , etc on the IPhone when nothing better to do.

Well, I see for me, some one who isn't going to buy an extra device to play portable games (my iphone has enough games I like, and not just the stupid little angry bird type games, stuff like old rpgs (and some new designed for the phone) and racing games) good and bad in this.
Good in that it may tempt more of the bigger developers to make stuff for my device (like Square has made quite a few games now though many of it is old games redone but hey, they're still fun :) , Capcom has some though in general I don't think Capcom has gotten the hang of making good iphone games, not as impressed with their stuff, we have Gameloft as well).
Bad in that the stuff that is encouraging people to move over is the angry bird type games and that it appears to make the more in depth stuff isn't as profitable. So in the long run we may not see as many games come out that are profitable.
Already it is sad when you look at the console market a lot of games are just games based on popular movies and not much innovation (cause the games based on the movies make the money and stuff like Okami and more innovative stuff gets ignored). I remember when I was reading an article complaining about how that was the trend in games (it happened to movies too once blockbusters came out. Movie studios were more interested in making blockbusters than unique movies, basically finding a formula that worked and sticking with it rather than trying anything different).

true, That's what I am expecting to happen.
They lowered the iPod prices and that opened room for the hi-end Video ipod priced at $400 or $500.
So it might happen. The big question is if they are ready for this on the holiday season or later maybe at MWSF. We'll find out in 2 to 3 weeks if they do not announce it a week or so before Thanksgiving.

Edit: They've changed the legend of the graph. It's correct now. Nevermind.

So I assume it will just stop recharging during the extended time.
Can it wear down the battery over time? I never forget. Just this one time :p

I noticed I can't enter the Local Snapshots feature. I don't have a Time Machine back up enabled for my Lion partition but before build 11A444d, I can enter Time Machine and see my snapshots. Now, every time I try to enter Time Machine, I get this. (See Screen Shot).
It does say "Local Snapshots: Enabled", just can't access them.
*sighs*... time to file another bug report.

This is really messing me up. My upgrade is available in 3 weeks and I figured I can just wait the extra month to get the 5 but if it is coming out in October then I don't know if i should just get the 4 as soon as my upgrade is ready and sell it when the 5 comes out or if I should just wait. My 3GS doesn't have any real problems but i just feel that after over a year and a half its time for something new.
