Great post & well done.
It's great to see one so young (going by your profile), so passionate about such old equipment. :)
As an old fart who remembers doing component level repair on those Power/Sweep boards, floppy drives and motherboards when the exchange price of a Power/Sweep was AU$450.00, it makes me appreciate somebody taking the time to go this far.
At least when I'm gone there will be those who care enough to keep these curios going. :D
I work as an Apple Tech these days (training complete, pending certification). My co-workers in the service department are all technicians of the mid to late 80's, having worked on these Compact systems when they were brand new. However I don't think they appreciated it as much. Something tells me they were never expecting or hoping to see one of these again. Oh well.
There's just one thing that bugs me about this machine, and that's the fact that the Analog Board has 2 lifted traces, mainly caused by the aging of the board and the harsh weather conditions it was subjected to. They lifted with almost no effort during the capacitor replacement. I've since secured and epoxied them down, but i'll always know that at least one part of the machine had to be patched up. I briefly considered starting over with the Mac Plus analog board but I threw that idea out the window once I saw that the condition of it was significantly worse than the 512's.
I had hoped to build another system like this, perhaps with a 128k as the platform, armed with the knowledge of the first build on what to do (and more importantly what not to do). At this stage I have yet to find a machine that fits the bill as the dead ones are usually already dumped and the working ones are fetching decent amounts with no sign of the prices falling as of yet.

I plan to take Friday off from Work , But Im gonna do my Homework and stop by the Apple Store Thursday Night and see how they plan to Launch this product.
My Plan of Attack is to wake up Early and Head over to the Apple Store and Check it out. If there's a line then I will join them.
Since the WiFi has already been released and plus you can order you iPad and have it delievered to your Front Door Step I Believe that the turn out will be smaller than Usually.
And Since I didn't Pre-Order it I wanna make sure I get so I will be ready early.
I was in line for the Original iPhone #10 in Line and about #150 for iPhone 3G on Launch Day.
My Only Question is How many people were in line for WiFi Launch and had Pre-Ordered it? Before they allowed the Purchase Line in?

There's a new Michael Jackson album coming out on the 14th of December called 'Michael', and you can hear the first single of it at this website:
http://breakingnews.michaeljackson.com/
What do you guys think of the song. I personally reckon it's good and I hope the rest of the album is as good.
Edit: Just letting people know that Breaking News has been taken off the website for streaming, however now you can listen to Hold my Hand, a duet with Akon that was leaked a few years ago but sounds a lot better now.

On the topic of Apple Store from 1997, does anyone have archives of old on-line www.apple.com from the years 1999-2004? I am interested in seeing those PowerPC ads from the last 10 years.. I know there is an archive of older www.apple.com websites showing the PowerMacs, PowerBooks, etc..
Check out wayback machine (http://waybackmachine.org/*/http://apple.com).

I don't know what the result of using both 'default host' *and* individual port mapping is, but at best it's undefined. I'd suggest using one or the other. I have no issues with Snow Leopard Server and an old Airport Extreme using port mapping (no default host). Default host is just exposing your machine to probes on every port in existence.
Some simple debugging: try telnetting from some other machine on your local network to your server port 25, e.g. 'telnet 192.168.1.2 25'. If you get connected to SMTP then your problem is elsewhere (barring some firewall rules you might have manually configured in your server). If you don't get connected then the problem is the server and you have to figure out why SMTP isn't listening.
If you can telnet to your server on the inside, but not from the outside then you have either a router problem or an ISP problem. As for my old Airport Extreme, I found that upgrading to the latest firmware (7.5.2) caused no end of problems, I downgraded to the previous version (7.4.2) and all is well.

iPhoto is controlled by Image Capture (in your applications or utilities folder). Open Image Capture, then open preferences to set what happens when a camera is connected. If you find iPhoto too slow, Image Capture may be quicker for you. Otherwise you can set it to do nothing, or open some other application.

Isn't the eMate smaller in size than a Macbook? I doubt the screen would fit.
its possible to cut out more screen real estate to make something bigger fit...

It was really only a matter of time. The technology still has a few kinks to work out, but the business model is sound and successful.
I bought a TV show, just to test the user experience. As a video professional, I was somewhat dissapointed with the quality of the image, but I was using an older, slower G4. Perhaps quicktime was optimized to drop frames in order to keep running in real time?
I was hoping it would be the same H.264 compression that Apple uses for Quicktime Movie Trailers. Those downloads (streams?) look outstanding!
Eventually, I'm sure that video quality and user experience will be outstanding. After all, the first automobile manufactured was not a Ferrari Enzo.

I'm satisfied with the iPhone 4 right now. Only feature I want is 64gb. But with the rumoured iCloud and mobileme update, I doubt there will be a 64 iphone 5. It would affect sales of ipod touch and ipad, unless they are bumped to 128 gb which isnt likely. Which is why I picked up a white iphone 4 32gb the moment it came out, and loving it ever since. I would kill for a white iphone 5 (retain design of 4) 64gb though.

It tinted the images green when re-processed or imported under the new RAW 3. So happy to have this fixed!
I hope they fixed this tinting problem on more than just the 3 cameras listed-- I've been having the problem with my D80 and Aperture 3 is dead to me until this is fixed.
Why couldn't the camera-specific details live on a central website that the software drivers could pick up "live" when needed, and cache for later, so we wouldn't keep having to pick up these updates to keep up?
That's kind of what's happening, no? In this case, the driver is picking up the details through Software Update hitting the Apple config website.
