According to Michael Moore, in a recent interview with GritTV (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/03/02/moore_on_wealthy_peoples_money_thats_not_theirs_thats_a_national_resource_its_ours.html), any wealth a rich person has earned is not actually theirs, it's a national resource, it's mine, it's yours, it's our wealth. Based on recent conversations with several of you and many on the left calling for DRASTICALLY higher taxation rates on the wealthiest Americans, I find myself wondering how popular this idea really is. Certainly there is much precedent for this line of thought... Mao, Stalin, Marx, Che, etc. all would have agreed... but where do you sit? Do you make claim to the funds earned by a wealthy entrepreneur? Are these funds up for the taking by popular opinion and political recourse (if we convince enough congressmen, should it be ours for the taking)?
The answer to the final question is emphatically yes, because that is how our government works.
No local, state or national government can govern or maintain infrastructure without some form of income, and an income tax is a fair way for every citizen to contribute to common needs. It is up to the voters to decide how much we all ought to pay.
Everyone seems dissatisfied with our tax system. Some people think the rich and large corporations are taxed too much, others think they aren't taxed enough. We all know which side of that equation you're on fivepoint, but the fact of the matter is we all vote for representatives who embody our views. You vote for people who want to lower taxes on businesses and the rich. I vote for people who favor higher taxes on the rich and large corporations. There is nothing Maoist or Stalinist about it. It's democracy.
The wealthy seem pretty well able to take care of themselves, I have no sympathy for them.

Very early CD burners were CD-R only and didn't support CD-RW. Either that is the case with yours, or your Memorex media is in some way not compatible with older CD-RW drives.

My MBA is fine, and that certainly doesn't look right. It's still under warranty, so I'd take it into a store or contact customer services
I bought this BTO MacBook Air online and I'm using it everyday. I think it will take time for time replace the keyboard to me. Another thing is... This baby don't have a removable hard drive, it will give me a hard time for transfering files... :(

There seems to be this unwritten internet rule that when you can't win arguments on current events, you fall back on "theoreticals".
...A corollary of which is, if it involves money, be sure you use the name of some rich person other than Warren Buffett.
(If nobody else has claimed this rule, I hereby dub it Veil's Second (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=9582595&postcount=37) Law. :D )

Having Apache running on your computer, and the appropriate ports open on your firewall does theoretically make your computer more vulnerable, but in reality it's definitely not a "sure fire way to get hacked". As long as you take appropriate security measures, like having your firewall set up correctly and turning off things such as Server Signature your chances of getting hacked are quite slim. Apache is what powers a large portion of websites across the world, and if it in itself was that vulnerable websites would go down a lot.
Having a dynamic IP will greatly decrease your chances of getting hacked, as well, because it will change each time your modem gets reset, making your virtually un-findable for any would-be hackers. (Unless you use some sort of DynDNS service that is).

Is it just the Windoze OS that's the target of the majority of virus attacks, or will the Intel inside make Macs more succeptible?

The retail discs will work in all Macs (assuming they meet the basic requirements of the OS), while the grey system restore discs are only for the specific model, i.e., you can't use a grey iMac restore disc on a Mac Mini or Power Mac, even if it is the same OS version.

Optimise your images and JavaScript the page is very slow.
Even just a quick save to web from Photoshop CS5 on header_ip.png took it from 332KB to 33KB with no visible quality reduction. Other images are also large in file size for what they are that could do with improvement.
The page is also making far to many requests for my liking, once again optimise by combining images ether into composites, sprites(for nav. Better still replace with css styling.), and combine your JavaScripts into one minified file.

We have an Apple Store in Holyoke Mass and there is also an Apple independent Authorized retail store and service center in Northampton called Yes Computers (http://www.yescomputers.com/Yes_Computers/Home.html). It is a great store and I have bought things there over the last few years.
This weekend they had an overnight break in. Check out Masslive.com story here (http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2011/04/northampton_police_seek_help_i_1.html)
here is a link to the video that is off the thieves making off with the goods.

I hope they catch these guys. It sounds like they have been making their way up and down the East Coast..

Why don't they just put a HDMI socket on a Mac Mini? This would let you use Front Row on your flat screen TV, this gives you the option of DVD's, USB TV cards (and video recording), etc
1) The mini is 2x as expensive as iTV
2) The mini would cost even more with HDMI (at least right now)
3) A lot of consumers just want the simplicity of a set-top box.
4) Others don't want to waste the power of a full computer just as a media center.

Does it have a self-assigned IP when it drops out?
If so, try renaming your wireless network. This has fixed this issue a number of times for me recently.

A) You shouldn't base everything on the benchmarks.
B) Look at it this way. The base 27" is still the same cost as it was last week. But now you have a performance increase. I can understand being a little down that the performance wasn't as high as you expected, but unless you lost money by waiting, it's still a win.

I need a firewire DVD R/W as, in case of need, I could do the boot by means of it, as my Mac mini is a PowerPC one (I read that only Intel Mac can boot by means of USB optical drives).
By the way, what do you think about the Hamlet HEXD5UA-D DVD R/W ? It has both firewire and usb.
