I don't see how raising Bill Gates' personal income tax affects Microsoft as a company though.
It probably wouldn't, but taxing him through the nose doesn't fit with the idea of rewarding success. Perhaps a better approach would be to incentivise charitable donations and working with charitable organisations.

I use the Windows Home Server provided backup agent (set and forget) to back up my W7 installs to the NAS. Acronis True Image Home 2010 is what I use for imaging and disaster recovery.
If you are on W7, the built in backup and imaging tools are supposed to be pretty decent, for once.
B
Thanks for the heads up. in the past, I've been disappointed with the built-in backup software.
Slightly off topic, How's windows home server. I'm running a single windows 7 box, though my wife uses an XP machine that needs backup capability as well. Would you think going to WHS be worthwhile? I use windows for work accessing servers on the corporate network and also running quickbooks.

Hi
I'm building a dynamic site for a teacher in PHP, and one part of it lets him edit certain pages (eg, the intro page, class page, etc). Currently, it displays the HTML source in one pane, lets him amend it and then preview his changes in another pane, and he can then save the changes to amend the file.
However, he doesn't want to have to use HTML tags himself. So, what I need to do is create buttons (bold, italic, header, new paragraph, etc) and have him highlight some of the text and click a button to apply the tag. Much like the buttons for this forum.
Does anyone have experience doing that, or, do you know of a free/inexpensive script to help me along with it? I'd imagine the actual tagging would be mostly/wholly done with javascript, and I would then like some way of validating what he's created before it's submitted.
Many thanks
Matt

ShareTool by yazsoft will allow all your bonjour services to work through your VPN just as they do locally. This is the solution I use, and it works perfectly, even itunes home sharing works. This is the only solution I could find as from what I can tell Apple has designed bonjour to not work over VPN.

10GB/day bandwidth transfer for basic accounts, that's pretty impressive.
Yeah, I ended up reading a lot on their forums ,didn't know they even had a forum. It's a huge step up from the 100MB :D
Hopefully Dropbox is cool with me doing this.

I know this isn't the right 'direction' to switch, but I saw no reason
not to share the story with y'all. I switched (basically) because I
couldn't afford a mac. I already had a 450 MHz g4, and my
parents were telling me to get a new computer, for myself, so my
mom could get my g4, and my dad could get my mom's g3. Since
my dad's computer broke. The computers would just go down
the 'assembly line'. Well, my parents set a $700 limit, I had to
make up the difference in however much I spent, and being a 15
year old, I had nothing to make the difference up with. Well, I
looked on eBay for ~$700 mac, and the best I could find were
~400 MHz g4 powermacs. I didn't want to downgrade from my
previous computer! So, I decided to just see what I could get
on the 'dark side' of eBay. I was astoundid when I saw the prices
of the PC's! PC's are priced amazingly on eBay. There are so
many people who custom build PCs and sell them on eBay, that
the supply and demand goes waaaaaaaaaay in the buyer's favor.
So, after searching for a LONG time, I managed to find a GREAT
PC for $700. I bought a PC with these stats:
2.4 GHz pentium 4
533 MHz quad pumped system bus
512 MB of 333 MHz DDR SDRAM (that is being used to its full potential)
Windows XP Home
Dell Dimension case
6 USB 2.0 ports (2 front, 4 back)
CD burner (40x10x40x)
Floppy Drive (I have actually used it too!)
I am posting this really late, I bought the PC about a year ago
(note the thread title) - and I haven't been disappointed by it
in the year that I have had it. It came to me fully loaded and
working great. It has only crashed twice (to where I had to
restart), the same number as my mac (which I had used longer).
It is FAST, it burns CDs FAST, and the p2p software rocks.
I encourage those who don't have much money for their next
computers to think about getting a custom built PC off of eBay.
So, I still like macs better, but I also like PCs, and I would have
a Mac if they weren't overpriced so badly. I know that is opinion,
but, to me, macs are severely overpriced.
I just thought I would share my 'switch' story. I'll also add that
I plan on spending my own money to get my very own PPC 970
power mac when one comes up. I might get one when it is
speed bumped. The new rumors talking about 2.5 GHz are making
my mouth water. ;) :D

Indeed, the Shure E3's are great. Sometimes I wish for a little more bass, but this is usually when listening to tracks on my iPod, where the headphone output's impedance isn't matched too well with the E3's.
Driving from a decent headphone amp, they are really excellent. The isolation also protects your ears in noisy environments; the volume doesn't have to be as loud to come through over the background noise.
I usually use the foam tips when listening for prolonged periods, or the tri-flange tips if I need to pop them on and off during listening. They both offer comparable levels of isolation, although the foamies are slightly more comfortable.

I know this is technically a mac software question. However, since the programs are one dimensional by being only for the PSP I figured I'd put it here. Simply, which is better to purchase iPSP or PSPWare.

i know all the old iMacs would automatically shut down if the CPU got too hot. Do the G4's do the same thing? I don't know.

I woke up and turned on the radio to hear an eye-witness describing what had happened. This particular station usually played practical jokes on people in the morning, so I'm hearing this horrific description of a people jumping out of windows and whatnot and waiting for the punch line. Then I got sick of waiting so I left for school. When I got there I told someone that I'd heard this really odd thing on the radio and he told me it was true.
It was quite surreal.

"I think you could also dulicate the track in iTunes and set the "start time" and "stop time"......"
Yeah, so when you set your in and out, right click on the song file, and select "convert selection to MP3" this will make a copy of the song into your library, and it will be the length you created. this is how I make mp3s for ringtones, since I can't fit a whole song on my phone. PEACE OUT

In the US, about the only competitor for unlocked iPhones was T-Mobile; it seems that AT&T has closed that option...
It ll probably take at least one year for the merger to complete. Until then, we ll still see people wanting unlocked iPhones :)

what system does your iMac currently have? I think it has to be upgraded to OS 9.1 first before you can upgrade to Panther......and you have to make sure you install the required firmware upgrade or you can kill your monitor
go to Apple.com and find their OS X page....it'll give you more info
