How about a used PowerBook 3400c and some amplified speakers? You should be able to get the whole setup for under $100. And the cool thing is you'll also be able to play Day of the Tentacle on it!

I was a freshman at Purdue then. I was walking from class back to my dorm. I suddunly heard the national anthem playing from someones dorm room probably on the 6th floor or so, and I looked up and saw an American flag hanging out of a window. I thought that was kind of odd to see such patriatism in the middle of september. Then I noticed campus was pretty quiet, there wasnt the hustle and bustle of kids going b/w the dorms and the other buildings. when i finally got to my building and my floor the entire floor was sielent except for a quiet murmer of a tv down the hall. i looked in the door from where the tv was and my friend said simply "you have to see this" and when i say it, i was completely shocked. the first tower had been hit was smoking. minutes later all sorts of speculations were going around. i shot over to my computer to check the internet but the major news sites were all down with a simple text page that stayted what little was known. i remeber watching the second plane hit and thinking how much it looked like a fake scene from a B grade horror film. (remeber all the live pictures where taken from long range so the picture was grainy and shaky) b/w that time and the collapse of the towers i got an e-mail saying my lab at the end of the day had been cancled. it all was just shocking.

This sounds more like jail time to me. How is this different from me hacking in to someone's computer and then telling the world to come on in and take what you want.

Why doesn't the government just take it right off of the top? For every dollar you earn the government gets a percentage and you keep the rest. Do that for everyone and we would not need to file income taxes. The government would always know how much you earn on a constant basis.

I am trying to do this similar thing - but I am confused
Do I need a pc software based VPN? Can't I just use my router VPN? I have tried VPN with just iPad and router but not working. I wonder if it is because my ip address to my router from cablevision is not static? Although my router ip hasn't changed since I started trying to do this, it keep failing.
Argh I am so pissed that I can't figure this out even with google
The reason I used a computer based VPN server is because the Apple Time capsule does not have VPN built in. If your router can serve as a VPN server, use your router.
What router do you have?

The use of restraint without launching into an extended Dragonforce or Joe Satriani showoff solo was a good move.
lack of talent maybe haha? i thought a lot of it was very simple but well put together.
The prudent use of double bass on the drums was good as lesser bands would over do the double bass drum beat.
argh i hate that term, i always think of an actual double bass and not the actual term of "double kick".

If this is an issue with the syntax highlighter, then it wouldn't be this code per se, but the context in which the code is being inserted. I notice that it's really deeply indented (or at least for my style it is).

unsurprising really. Who can compete with apple? I'm not even sure there's space for microsoft even if they reposition themselves in the smartphone market
They could if they would stop copying or running AFTER Apple.
How about getting the xbox down to a size that is easily taken along (Full experience, not pocket version PSP type), run it with touch and onscreen controllers or the suction cup controllers which have already produced.
You can combine it with a tablet and now you have something kids will drive their parents crazy for.
How about evolving their products instead of always new and unproven and abandoned when it doesn't sell.

"Error occurred during installation please try again" doesn't necessarily indicate there is anything wrong with your machine. I have received a similar message whilst running Software Update and the problem was with the network.
Have you tried as advised - tried later?

I scanned in class notes into a pdf file. I then arranged the PDFs in the order I wanted using Preview. Now I can't seem to save the whole thing as one big file, so I can view it on my ipad.
When I click File, the option it gives me is "save as" and will only save that one pdf slide to my desktop.
I need help, I just spent 5 hours doing all this, with well over 600 pages.
thanks in advance
While you have them open in Preview, select all (Cmd + A), and go to the File->Print Selected... or something like that. Click the PDF button in the lower left hand corner of the print dialog.

Thats a pretty drastic reaction for a misspelt word. The amount of wounds that he inflicted as well to that spelling mistake.

didn't apple officially say that intel processors would be out in the summer of 2005?
At the 2005 WWDC which took place in the Summer of 2005 Apple announced that they would be moving to Intel processors and that the transition would be complete in 2007. Obviously, they beat that time table by a wide margin.

Hi,
I've started using OSX again, as nothing in Linux compares to Aperture for photo management (still have an Ubuntu server, as for serving stuff, it's pretty great) and I'm going through putting my meaningful photos into Aperture, a day shoot at a time. I've only gotten part of the way through my library, only finishing May but I feel like this will be a worthwhile exercise for me and that if I continue with this, when importing from my camera, I will have a nicely indexed library with useful keywords.
I'm using a date based folder and project hierarchy, and importing each day with IPTC tags appended which include keywords and City, State/Province, Country.
This is a shot of the hierarchy I'm using:
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5019/5509005948_a52765fb0c_b.jpg
And the metadata I'm using:
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5213/5509006014_432a416198_b.jpg
Is there an automatic way to get the City, State/Province, Country information into 'Places'? Otherwise, I can at least just do a search for photos in a certain place and then manually give them their locations...
Thanks!

I looked into getcwd, and I was able to get the directory of the executable. I wrote some code to modify the path to go up a couple of folders, and I verified that it did the correct modifications. Furthemore, I found that the program worked just fine when I opened the package contents of the .app file and ran the executable inside the MacOS folder from Terminal.
However, the .app will not run from Finder.
